The Benefits of Family Travel to Iceland
– From Edward & Susie Piegza, Founders & Parents of Jack and Matt
As the founders of Classic Journeys and parents of two boys (now adult men, who are ‘off the family payroll!’), we’ve had the privilege of traveling with our family to over 35 countries. Yet, Iceland remains one of the most transformative experiences we’ve ever shared. For us, travel has always been a way to reconnect as a family, leaving behind the distractions of everyday life—and, most importantly, our devices.
In Iceland, this connection deepened even further. The cinematic landscapes, from waterfalls and glaciers to black sand beaches and lava fields, made every moment extraordinary. And our wonderful guide team descended from 9th-century Vikings captured their attention and engaged them every step of the way. The way our guides shared Iceland’s rich history and vibrant culture left a lasting impression, teaching our sons lessons that went far beyond textbooks.
Family travel to Iceland offers an immersive experience that helps children expand their horizons and deepens the bonds between parents and kids. Every day brings new adventures—whether it’s hiking on glaciers, snorkeling between tectonic plates, or riding Icelandic horses to hidden waterfalls. It’s an opportunity to reconnect, engage with each other, and create memories that last a lifetime.
We’ve seen firsthand how transformative these experiences can be, and it’s why we believe Iceland is one of the best places for families to explore together. From witnessing the midnight sun in summer or searching for the Northern Lights in winter, to exploring ice caves and enjoying gourmet glacier picnics, Iceland offers unique experiences that captivate both children and adults alike. Parents to parents, we invite you and your family to explore Iceland with us and our extended Icelandic family. Join us in this land of fire and ice, where every day is a new adventure and every moment is an opportunity to strengthen family bonds and create lasting memories.
